H. Kasai et al., OPTICAL-PROPERTIES OF PERYLENE MICROCRYSTALS, Molecular crystals and liquid crystals science and technology. Section A, Molecular crystals and liquid crystals, 294, 1997, pp. 173-176
The optical properties of perylene microcrystals in wide range of crys
tal size from 50 nm to 1 mu m were measured. The interesting behavior
of exciton in microcrystals with less than 200nm was found. For exampl
e, with decreasing the crystal size, self-trapped exciton states in mi
crocrystals shifted to the high energy side. Therefore, the strong lum
inescence from free-exciton was observed, and life time of self-trappe
d exciton became shorter.
