Abstract
LB films of a novel azobenzene derivative were fabricated and characte rized by AFM, Raman microscopy, and polarized transmission FTIR spectr oscopy. The AFM and Raman microscopic data revealed a well-ordered uni form structure of the film, and the dichroism in two perpendicular pol arized FTIR suggested that there exist two types of hydrogen-bonded ca rboxyl groups, which are orientated in planes perpendicular to each ot her, forming a two-dimensional inter-molecular hydrogen-bonded structu re in the LB film.
