Jn. Zhao et al., STRUCTURAL CHARACTERIZATION OF LB FILMS OF A NOVEL AZOBENZENE COMPOUND - FTIR EVIDENCE OF A 2-DIMENSIONAL HYDROGEN-BONDED STRUCTURE, Molecular crystals and liquid crystals science and technology. Section A, Molecular crystals and liquid crystals, 294, 1997, pp. 185-188
LB films of a novel azobenzene derivative were fabricated and characte
rized by AFM, Raman microscopy, and polarized transmission FTIR spectr
oscopy. The AFM and Raman microscopic data revealed a well-ordered uni
form structure of the film, and the dichroism in two perpendicular pol
arized FTIR suggested that there exist two types of hydrogen-bonded ca
rboxyl groups, which are orientated in planes perpendicular to each ot
her, forming a two-dimensional inter-molecular hydrogen-bonded structu
re in the LB film.
