Abstract
Novel pulsed and cw quantum cascade distributed feedback (QC-DFB) lasers op erating near lambda = 8 mum were used for detection and quantification of t race gases in ambient air by means of sensitive absorption spectroscopy. N2 O, (CH4)-C-12, (CH4)-C-13, and different isotopic species of H2O were detec ted. Also, a highly selective detection of ethanol vapor in air with a sens itivity of 125 parts per billion by volume (ppb) was demonstrated.
