Abstract
Brief review of results on quantum interference (nonlinear interference) of optical transitions in quantum systems, atomic coherences, laser control, and four-wave mixing under multiphoton resonances is presented. New "Fermi gold rule" for quantum interference effects is deduced. Simple model for su ppression of the multiphoton: absorption, and related effect of absolute tr ansparency is demonstrated.
