Novel rhodium(I) and ruthenium(II) complexes with the chiral cyclopent
adienyl-phosphine bidentate ligand PPFCp have been prepared and charac
terized crystallographically. The cationic ruthenium-vinylidene comple
x [Ru(C=CHPh)(PPh3)(PPFCp)]PF6, obtained from [RuCl(PPh3)(PPFCp)] and
phenylacetylene, reacts with 1-buten-3-ol to afford 3-methyl-1-phenyl-
4-penten-2-one in moderate yield with moderate enantioselectivity.
