Tm. Jones et al., AN EXAMPLE OF THE APPLICATION OF PRODUCTION SYSTEM-DESIGN TOOLS FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF BUSINESS PROCESS REENGINEERING, International journal of production economics, 50(2-3), 1997, pp. 69-78
The concepts behind business process reengineering (BPR) have become a
n important management tool and are likely here to stay. There have be
en a variety of BPR implementation approaches developed, but many of t
hem lack the specifies required for an actual BPR implementation. This
paper illustrates how borrowing from the approaches developed for pro
duction system design, specifically binary ordering for machine cell f
ormation for forming business process teams, can open up a whole area
of existing tools that can assist in BPR implementation. Simple, yet p
owerful, the resulting methodology can increase the efficacy of BPR ef
forts.
