Abstract
Renal biopsy is a modern diagnostic method which allows histological examin ations of biopsy specimens of the renal cortex. It is very helpful in diagn osing renal failures and monitoring treatment. Before biopsy, detailed clin ical examinations and laboratory investigations are necessary in order to e liminate possible contraindications, There are several techniques for kidne y biopsy mainly: percutaneous needle biopsy, "key-hole" technique, ultrasou nd-guided biopsy, Special needles for this procedure are used: Tru-cut need le, ASAP, Monopty. Biopsy is a minimally invasive method which gives valuab le diagnostic results and is therefore highly recommended.
