The kinetics of C-reactive protein (CRP) concentration was examined in pati
ents with atheromatic occlusion of limb arteries following implantation of
an aorto-difemoral graft. Estimating CRP is useful in monitoring the healin
g process of the implanted aorto-difemoral graft but has no value in evalua
ting the intensity of atheromatic lesions in patients with ischaemia of the
limbs. It is more valuable to determine CRP rather than OB concentration i
n prognosing graft healing, The strict correlation between the level of CRP
and intensity of inflammation confirms the greater sensitivity and specifi
city of CRP testing compared to a routine determination of inflammation ind
icators. No relationship between CRP levels, leukocyte concentration and th
e course of infection has been determined amongst patients in the post-oper
ative period.
