Abstract
A gridded ionization chamber for fission fragment detection is described. T he chamber has been specially designed for use at the quasi-monoenergetic L i-7(p, n) neutron source at the The Svedberg Laboratory, Uppsala, Sweden. T he detector permits measurements of fission fragment energy and emission an gle for two targets with diameter of up to 10 cm. The time response of the chamber ( less than or equal to 5 ns FWHM) is adequate to apply time-of-fli ght discrimination against background events induced by non-peak neutrons. Results of angular anisotropy measurements for the Th-232 (n, f) and U-238( n, f) reactions in the 20-160 MeV energy range are given. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
