V. Maddalena et al., Single-neutron knockout reactions: Application to the spectroscopy of C-16,C-17,C-19 - art. no. 024613, PHYS REV C, 6302(2), 2001, pp. 4613
The structure of the neutron-rich carbon isotopes C-16,C-17,C-19 has been i
nvestigated using one-neutron knockout reactions on a Be-9 target at approx
imately 60 MeV/nucleon. Partial cross sections and associated momentum dist
ributions corresponding to final states of the C-15,C-16,C-18 residues were
measured and compared with predictions based on a shell-model theory and a
n eikonal model of the reaction mechanism. Spectroscopic factors and l-valu
e assignments are given. The ground-state spins of C-17,C-19 are 3/2(+) and
1/2(+), respectively. It is suggested that the accepted one-neutron separa
tion energy for the ground state of C-19 needs to be revised upwards.
