Large scale rapidity correlations in heavy ion collisions - art. no. 024903

We discuss particle production mechanisms for heavy ion collisions. We pres ent an argument demonstrating how the fluctuations of the number of produce d particles in a series of classical emissions can account for Koba-Nielsen -Olesen scaling. We predict rapidity correlations in the particle productio n in the event-by-event analysis of heavy ion collisions on the rapidity sc ales of the order of 1/alpha (s).
