Abstract
In the groundwood screening system at UPM-Kymmene Rauma Paper Mill eight ma in line screens were replaced with a single multistage pressure screen (MuS T). The objectives of the modernization project were highly achieved: 1. Th e installed power was reduced by 85%. 2. The shive content was reduced by 3 8%. 3. The reject rate was reduced by 12%. It was also discovered that the MuST Screen gave excellent runnability with easy and quick reaction to cont rols in a much more simplified process.
