Abstract
Three-dimensional volumetric data sets of stacked ultrasonographic (US) sca ns were obtained in vitro and in vivo to investigate the effect of common U S artifacts on cross-sectional images reconstructed out-of-plane to the pla ne of acquisition of these data sets. The appearance of the artifacts on th e reconstructed images was different from that on the source images. Such a rtifacts have the potential to simulate pathologic abnormalities.
