Abstract
An efficient synthetic strategy has been developed for the synthesis of a n ovel fructose conjugated S-nitroso nitric oxide donor, fructose-1-S-nitroso -N-acetylpenicillamine. This compound showed similar cytotoxicity as the fi rst generation fructose-SNAP, fructose-2-SNAP. A 5- and 26-fold increased c ytotoxicity was observed compared to glucose-7-SNAP and SNAP against DU-145 human prostate cancer cells in vitro. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All r ights reserved.
