Electrical conduction in cement reinforced by short cal bon fibers below th
e percolation threshold is governed by carrier hopping across the fiber-mat
rix interface. The activation energy is decreased by increasing the fiber c
rystallinity, but is increased by using intercalated fibers. The carbon fib
ers contribute to hole conduction. which is further enhanced by intercalati
on, thereby decreasing the absolute thermoelectric power and the resistivit
