Abstract
We propose a method for the generation of self-affine fractal random surfac es, in which we use Fourier transform and its inversion in the algorithm. T he light scattering of surfaces of this kind is simulated at different inci dent angles of illumination. The variation of the fun width at half maximum (FWHM) of the intensity profile versus the perpendicular component k(perpe ndicular to) of the wave-vector shows clearly the characteristics of the su rfaces parameters. The simulation demonstrates how the value of FWHM at k(p erpendicular to)(2) w(2) << 1 region and the slope of ln w(P) - ln k(perpen dicular to) curve at k(perpendicular to)(2)w(2) >> 1 region are used, respe ctively, to extract the lateral correlation length xi and the roughness exp onent alpha.
