Effect of predation of 2 phytoseiid species on the broad mite Polyphag
otarsonemus latus (Banks) was studied on bean and lime plants in the g
reenhouse and in the field in lime. Neoseiulus californicus (McGregor)
maintained mite density at low levels, whereas the effect of Neoseiul
us barkeri (Hughes) was erratic. N. californicus, together with a comp
lex of indigenous predacious mites, kept P. latus density below econom
ic damaging levels on lime fruits.
