Abstract
The application of fuzzy logic controllers to improve power-system dam ping behaviour has received some attention in the literature during th e last few years. The paper presents an approach in which besides spee d and its first derivative, the second derivative is applied to the Fu zzy-set based power-system stabilizer (PSS), so that a three-dimension al space with improved behaviour is formed. The parameters are then op timized by the new searching technique, the genetic algorithm. Excelle nt digital simulation results are demonstrated for a single machine in finite bus-bar systems.
