Abstract
The butterfly species-group taxa. established by J. C. F. Klug in his Symbo lae Physicae (Insecta), are listed with full reference to the primary sourc e. A catalogue of the surviving type material (syntypes and, when published . lectotypes and paralectotypes), found in the collections of the Museum fu r Naturkunde der Humboldt-Universitat zu Berlin, is presented. Separate comments are added either for a better understanding of the furthe r specifications on the type locality (quoting secondary sources, if necess ary), current status of the species-group taxon considered, or finally when previous nomenclatural actions (lectotype designations, etc.) for the taxo n in question are relevant. A new synonymy is established: Vanessa limnoria limnoria Klug, 1845 = Preci s limnoria niviestictus Gabriel, 1954 syn. n., as a result of the discovery of the type specimen of the former.
