Abstract
The possibility of using a liquid lithium primary target for the 14-MeV int ense neutron source (INS) based on muon-catalyzed fusion (mu CF) (the mu CF -INS) is discussed The description of the thermohydraulic and mechanical an alysis that suggested the proposed geometry is presented. Particular attent ion is given to the thermal parameter evaluation since these quantities hav e a great influence on the choice of target design. According to the calcul ations, the lithium primary target variant can be considered for future mu CF-INS realization.
