Abstract
The authors demonstrate dispersion managed soliton transmission using short -period dispersion management, which is characterised by having a dispersio n management period that is much shorter than the amplification period. Sim ulation results indicate that by optimisation of the system parameters sing le channel transmission at 80 Gbit/s is possible over trans-oceanic distanc es.
