Mx. Wan et al., Strain imaging and elasticity reconstruction of arteries based on intravascular ultrasound video images, IEEE BIOMED, 48(1), 2001, pp. 116-120
Based on intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) video images, a novel motion estim
ation method combining the genetic algorithm-based optical flow method and
a step-by-step and sum strategy has been developed to estimate the displace
ment and strain distributions on the scan cross sections of the arteries. A
nd then, real elasticity distributions mere reconstructed under the conditi
ons of small and large deformation. Experimental results of in vitro porcin
e arteries demonstrated the feasibility of the method. This investigation m
ay have potentials to provide new technological means for monitoring and ev
aluating percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty procedure, especial
ly, for the end users of IVUSpercimaging equipment.
