Life stress and hypertension

The evidence that life event stress, especially occupational stress, may co ntribute to persisting hypertension continues to accumulate. The findings i n many studies remain significant after controlling possible confounders. T his report reviews the recent evidence and explains some apparent inconsist encies in the literature attributable to different effects of state and tra it psychological variables.
