Ka. Mohamed et L. Pap, Performance analysis of frequency-hopped packet radio networks with spatially distributed users-combined error and erasure decoding considered, J CIR SYS C, 10(3-4), 2000, pp. 159-171
This paper is concerned with the performance analysis of frequency-hopped p
acket radio networks with random spatial distribution of users. Depending o
n their relative energies, hits may either cause errors, erasures, or be in
effective. Combined error and erasure Reed Solomon decoding is used. Two ty
pes of hopping patterns are considered, namely random and one-coincidence p
atterns. Using a novel technique of the joint probability generating functi
ons of the so called effective interference vectors, general closed form ex
pressions for packet capture probabilities are derived. Numerical results i
ndicate that, depending on the coding rate and traffic levels, larger value
s of the throughput can be achieved by using either error only or erasure o
nly decoding.
