Abstract
A case is described of an extensive cholesteatoma presenting as a lump on t
he side of a patient's head overlying the squamous temporal bone, with eros
ion of the underlying bone and intracranial extension. The patient was othe
rwise asymptomatic. This case highlights the bone-eroding capacity of chole
steatoma and the vigilance required in assessing lumps on the head.
