Abstract
The relativistic dynamics of a charge in the presence of the radiation reac
tion force is solved in general. It is shown that the solution admits mass
conversion of the charge into the energy of the electromagnetic field. The
mechanism of annihilation is demonstrated on the example of the radiative c
apture of the electron by the proton.
