Abstract
An accurate full-wave simulation of the resonant behavior of microstrip ant ennas is very important, but too time consuming. This paper presents an eff icient method to characterize the resonant behavior of microstrip antennas in multilayered media using the method of moments (MoM) combined with inter polation/extrapolation techniques. Polynomial and rational interpolations a re implemented and compared to each other. Also, the present method uses th e adaptive sampling algorithm to maximize the information provided by each new sample in a 1-D or 2-D interpolation/extrapolation. By this approach, t he resonant frequencies with respect to both physical dimensions and dielec tric constants can be extracted, with minimum sampling points needed. The n umerical experiments for several microstrip antennas show the efficiency an d accuracy of the present method. (C) 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
