Abstract
In this paper we first discuss a few theoretical considerations, concerning the pixel effect and its optimisation. Starting from the weighting potenti al, which takes into account the pixel size on detector thickness ratio (W/ L), we continue with a simple statistical approach, taking in account the p hoton absorption profile, the mu tau parameters, the longitudinal and trans versal carrier diffusion. This calculation has shown, for each mu tau, an o ptimal W/L ratio. Experimental results show that Travelling Heather Method (THM) material is very suitable for monolithic matrix device, as well as Br idgman or CZT materials, and sometimes better, according to its good transp ort properties.
