Abstract
We present direct spectroscopic measurement of the excited state angular-mo mentum-state distribution of Na-2*(3 S-2(1/2) + 3 P-2(3/2)) molecules photo associated by the trapping lasers in a sodium magneto-optical trap. We find that states with quantum numbers up to J = 22 are excited and that the mea sured population distribution can be well described using a local equilibri um model.
