Abstract
The problem of the crossover from quantum to classical dynamics for methyl group rotation in glassy systems is tackled in a quantitative way. A barrie r distribution model, which was previously introduced to explain the neutro n-scattering spectra in the low- and high-temperature limits, is extended n ow to the whole temperature range without introducing additional fitting pa rameters and it is checked in poly(vinyl acetate) with excellent results.
