R. Bucci et al., Spectroscopic characteristics and thermal properties of divalent metal complexes of diclofenac, POLYHEDRON, 19(24-25), 2000, pp. 2515-2520
The spectroscopic characteristics (IR and diffuse reflectance) and the ther
mal properties (TG. DTG and DSC) of the solid compounds obtained by the rea
ction of diclofenac (DH) with manganese(II), iron(Il), cobalt(II), nickel(I
I). copper(II) and zinc(II) are reported and discussed. The complexes agree
d with the empirical formula MeD2. (H2O)(x) and the metal ions are co-ordin
ated through the carboxylate group of the ligand. The furnace atmosphere (N
-2 or O-2) greatly influences the thermal decomposition trend of the comple
xes, less their thermal stability. On the contrary, the initial decompositi
on temperature depends on the co-ordinated metal ion, especially in the cas
e of iron(II) and copper(II) compounds, which are much less stable than oth
er complexes. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
