Abstract
meso-Triphenyltetrabenzoporphine and its zinc complex were prepared. The in fluence of the unsymmetrical structure on the physicochemical and spectrosc opic properties of these compounds is discussed. The results of quantum-che mical calculations and the H-1 NMR data suggest the steric distortion of th e porphine macroring.
