The kinetics of coordination of N-methyl-substituted tetraphenylporphyrin [
(H, CH3)P] to Cu(II), Zn(II), Mn(II), Ni(II), Co(II), Cd(II), Ag(I), and Hg
(II) 8-quinolinolates [M(L-1)(2)] in DMSO was studied. The reaction yields
metalloporphyrins (L-1)M(CH3)P and MP or intermediates M(L-2)(2). (H,CH3)P
depending of the reaction conditions and the metal nature. The rate of form
ation of (L-1)M(CH3)P is maximal for group II d-metal quinolinolates.
