Dielectric dispersion is shown to occur at microwave frequencies in single
crystals of PbCo1/2W1/2O3 in the frequency range of 0.5-500 GHz. The freque
ncy dependence of this dispersion can be explained in terms of a strongly d
amped ferroelectric soft mode occurring in the incommensurate phase and nea
r each of the paraelectric-incommensurate and incommensurate-ferroelectric
transitions. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
