Sm. Cooper et A. Passman, RESOLUTION OF SCATTER COCKLE ON PICKLED PELTS AND CRUST LEATHER AFTERTREATMENT OF LAMBS TO REMOVE LICE, Journal of the Society of Leather Technologists and Chemists, 81(3), 1997, pp. 94-97
Shower dipping with a diazinon-based product gave rapid and complete e
radication of lice. The effect of treatment with a synthetic pyrethroi
d pour-on product was not as rapid or complete. Pickled pelts showed m
uch less cockle within four weeks of either diazinon or synthetic pyre
throid treatment, but the residual effects of cockle on crust leather
remained on some skins for at least 24 weeks after even the most effec
tive treatment for lice.
