Abstract
The favorable intramolecular relationship between a benzyl ether group and a chiral quinol bis-epoxide moiety is shown to cause a peculiar type of rea rrangement followed by a cascade of acid-catalyzed events that result in th e formation of a new, highly strained polycyclic system.
