Abstract
p-tert-Butyl-tetrakis[(methylcarbonyl)methoxy]tetrathiacalix[4]arene and p- tert-butyl-tetrakis[(benzoyl)methoxy]tetra-thiacalix[4]arene were prepared and their conformation was established by X-ray crystallography, p-tert-But yl-tetrakis-[(diethylamide)methoxy]tetrathiacalix[4]arene was also synthesi zed. The ability of these three macrocycles to bind metal ions was investig ated via a solvent extraction study. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rig hts reserved.
