Abstract
In this paper, it is shown that the linearized Boitzmann-Enskog collision o perator cannot be dissipative in the L-2-space setting contrarily to the li nearized Boltzmann operator. Some estimates useful for the spectral theory are given. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
