A method is proposed for obtaining Be-10 from spent fast-reactor control ro
ds. The method is characterized by the fact that it is inexpensive and it c
an combine the separation of Be-10 with the recovery of expensive B-10. The
method has been tested on BN-600 spent control rods. It is shown that in t
he process of utilizing wastes from fast reactors it is possible to obtain
Be-10 in the amount required for experimental investigations in heavy-ion b
eams.
