Abstract
The deregulation of the German energy market has led to growing competition (among the utilities), causing prices to crumble. Consumers must intensify their search efforts considerably in order to identify the most suitable u tility. Internet-based "B2B" market-places for commodities such as electric ity, gas and water help to optimise the match between demand and supply.
