Abstract
The case of a patient with progressive acromegaly and a toxic multinod ular goiter is reported. The spectrum of thyroid disorders that can oc cur in association with acromegaly is reviewed. Diffuse goiter, thyroi d nodules, and thyroid cancer are common in patients with acromegaly. Peripheral hyperthyroidism, usually due to toxic nodules, has also bee n reported, IGF 1 elevation may play a key role in the pathogenesis of thyroid disorders associated with acromegaly. Routine investigations for thyroid disorders are warranted in patients with acromegaly.
