Abstract
Two new small Suines, Kolpochoerus deheinzelini sp. nov. and Kolpochoerus c ookei sp. nov., are described. The first one represents the earliest appear ance of the genus and the earliest African Suine. K. deheinzelini n. sp. is the ancestor of K. afarensis, previously considered as an Eurasiatic migra nt in the Middle Pliocene of Africa (Pickford, 1994). The second one is the smallest species of the genus. (C) 2001 Academie des sciences / Editions s cientifiques et medicales Elsevier SAS.
