Stochastic molecular dynamics calculations were carried out on a nanoc
rystallite of cellulose triacetate (CTA). Moment statistics were used
to assess the rigidity of the CTA surface layer. The implications of b
oth static and dynamic structural features along with an assessment of
CTA flexibility are described in terms of CTA's use as a stationary p
hase in chiral chromatography. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
