KINETICS OF THE THERMAL INACTIVATION OF ALKALINE-PHOSPHATASE FROM GREEN CRAB (SCYLLA-SERRATA)

The kinetics of thermal inactivation of alkaline phosphatase from gree n crab (Scylla Serrata) has been studied using the kinetic method rela ting to the substrate reaction during irreversible inhibition of enzym e activity previously described by Tsou.(3) The results show that the thermal inactivation of the enzyme is an irreversible reaction. Compar ison of the microscopic rate constants for thermal inactivation of fre e enzyme and the enzyme-substrate complex shows that the presence of s ubstrate has a certain protective effect against thermal inactivation.
