Abstract
Optical inhomogeneities and growth defects in flux-grown Nb-doped pota ssium titanyl phosphate crystals have been investigated. The growth st riations, growth sector boundaries and dislocations are revealed by wh ite-beam synchrotron radiation topography. All of the observed disloca tions are growth induced and no ferroelectric domains are found in the crystals. It is believed that the main reason for causing the instabi lity of the 90 degrees non-critical phase matching along the x-directi on is related to the growth striations, especially of {011} sectors.
