Abstract
In this paper a newly developed fuzzy supervisory control system for the in jection molding process is presented. The system performs automatic tuning of the machine operating points and reduces the amount of human effort need ed for a complete multi-objective optimization of the machine settings. The optimal tuning is facilitated by a priority policy based on the significan ce of defects. The experimental results obtained from the application of th e proposed fuzzy control architecture to a real industrial environment were very encouraging. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd.
