Ae. Kontorovich et al., Geological and geochemical prerequisites of the Cambrian and Upper Proterozoic petroleum potential of southeastern West Siberia, GEOL GEOFIZ, 41(12), 2000, pp. 1615-1636
The paper gives a detailed characteristics of naphthide shows identified in
Lower Cambrian formations exposed by Lemok BH-1 (eastern West Siberia). In
vestigation of biomarker hydrocarbons has shown a Late Precambrian age of t
he identified naphthides and the presence of two types of oil-generating ro
cks. Data on naphthide geochemistry, geological interpretation of seismic s
urvey, and lithostratigraphic study of the section suggest that the Riphean
deposits containing high-carbon sequences with a high petroleum potential
are widespread in the study area and the Paleozoic deposits of the Kas-Dubc
hes interfluve could be assigned to platform formations.
