Abstract
The aim of the present work is to investigate the effect of the phase-lag c oncept in the wave theory of heat conduction on the thermal behavior of sys tems that exhibit phase-change processes such as melting and solidification . The general analysis is carried out and then two examples are given to de scribe the thermal behavior of systems involving phase-change processes und er the effect of the hyperbolic heat conduction model. The first example de scribes the ablation process and the second example describes the solidific ation of a supercooled liquid confined in a half-space.
