A B/C-cis hexahydrobenzo[c]phenanthridine (7) was alternatively prepared by
the hydride-reduction of a tetrahydrobenzo[c]phenanthridine derivative (6)
under acidic condition, which was derived from 2-phenyl-1-tetralone oxime
(3) through four steps (reductive amidation, methylation, Bischler-Napieral
ski cyclization, and hydride reduction).
