Charge carrier photogeneration in solid porphyrin films was investigat
ed using optical and photocurrent action spectroscopy. In electropolym
erized DA porphyrin films on ITO, acting as photo diodes, unidirection
al charge separation occurs within interfacial heterodimers if E-D,E-A
(S-1)-E-CT in solution is sufficiently large. In covalent porphyrin di
mers on TiO2, one of the porphyrins can act as an antenna for the phot
oelectrically active component.
